Revive Belfast: From Maintenance to Mission for the Church of Ireland at St Paul’s & St Barnabas

175th Anniversary Year

Revive Belfast

A day for Anglican clergy and church leaders to think prayerfully, honestly, and practically about renewal, mission, and the future of the local church.

As part of our 175th anniversary year at St Paul’s & St Barnabas, Belfast, we are delighted to be hosting Revive Belfast on Saturday 2 May 2026. This promises to be an important and encouraging day for Anglican clergy and church leaders who want to think seriously about church renewal, healthy growth, gospel witness, and the task of reaching our communities with fresh clarity and confidence.

We are especially pleased to welcome Canon Mark Eldredge, who serves with the American Anglican Council and has spent years helping Anglican churches move beyond simply maintaining what is there and begin thinking again about revitalisation, health, vision, and mission. This is not a day about chasing trends or copying quick fixes. It is about the deeper work of renewal. It is about asking what it looks like for churches to recover confidence in the gospel, love their communities well, and move forward with courage in the places where God has put them.

What is Revive Belfast about?

The day is aimed at those who want to think carefully about how churches can be renewed and strengthened for faithful witness in this moment. The focus is not mere activity, and it is not preserving structures for their own sake. It is about asking what it means to be healthy, prayerful, mission-minded churches again.

What will the day cover?

The workshop material explores themes such as personal and congregational renewal, the life cycle of a church, values and vision, church health, and practical strategies for evangelism, discipleship, worship, fellowship, and lay ministry. It is designed to help churches face reality honestly and move forward prayerfully.
