Why We Read the Word The word of God is central to who we are and what we do as a church family. It is by the word of God that we come to know God and what he calls us to as a church family and individual disciples. It is why each Sunday, our rhythms of worship are centred around and saturated by Scriptures. As Anglicans, every aspect of our services is shaped by our love of the scriptures and our desire to know God and honour him by them. The reading and sermon are central to our Sunday Worship each week. However, it is not just enough for us to read the bible each day or hear it read to us each Sunday if we want to know God. What it means to live for him, like the Son in the power of the Holy Spirit, then we must also be a people who actively engage with the word of God and try and understand what it is teaching us about our triune God and what it means to be faithful to him in our own context.
